Building in Public: An Honest Take

When I first started sharing my work online, I thought building in public meant posting wins. Revenue milestones. User growth. Pretty charts going up and to the right.

But real building in public is messier than that. It's sharing when things break. It's admitting you don't know what you're doing. It's letting people watch you figure it out in real time.

The Vulnerability Hangover

Every time I post something honest about struggling, I wake up the next morning with a pit in my stomach. Did I overshare? Will people think less of me? Will this hurt my business?

That discomfort never fully goes away. But I've learned to see it as a sign that I'm doing something meaningful.

What I've Gained

The connections I've made through vulnerability have been worth more than any polished marketing could ever be. People don't want to follow someone who has it all figured out. They want to follow someone who's honest about the journey.

Building in public isn't a growth strategy. It's a trust strategy. And trust compounds faster than followers.
